Today is Chester’s day for daycare. I put him in daycare once a week; we don’t have a lot of people over, so I feel it’s good socialization for him. He loves it; he gets so excited when we get there!

I got in one session before we left. He loves his bed in the living room, but he still hates it when I walk out the door. The first time he popped up, although he stayed on the bed. When I went outside for 1 minute he got off the bed, but I repeated it and stayed on.

I had no troubles getting him to go from the living room to the bathroom, or getting him up on his bed in the bathroom. In fact, earlier, while I was stripping the bed, he’d jumped on it (and was about to carry off my tshirt).

The minute I leave him, though, he becomes very anxious and wants to get off. He mostly okay with it, until I actually opened the door to the bedroom. He got off the bed then; I went back to him, got him to go back on the bed (which he was reluctant to do), and called it a session.

I should’ve done one more session tonight, I know. I was just too darned tired. I gave him a kong in his crate, then a rawhide on his bed again last night — and I didn’t have to worry about him the rest of the night.

I don’t know if he was just tired from daycare or what, but he was very calm when my husband came home (he’d been away 3 days).
